Consistent with the Rep's mission - our Youth Programming will empower and inspire the imaginations of the student, artist, audience and the community. Students, young performers and campers have the opportunity to hone theatrical, performance and life skills including creativity, collaboration, communication and self-confidence.
The Rep’s Youth Programming includes a full season of Youth Productions including 5 Youth Workshop Productions and 2 Youth Mainstage Productions that give young people the opportunity to participate in fully-staged theatrical productions open to the public. These productions provide the young actor the opportunity to participate in the process of theatre from audition to opening night and beyond with the support of props, set pieces, costumes, lighting and more.
For young people looking to get a weekly taste of acting & theatre, the Rep offers Classes that run through the “school year” along with some classes that extend into summer sessions. Classes are designed for students with varying theatrical experiences and interests, provide small class sizes and are open to ages 4 – 18. Voice Lessons and a newly founded Youth Chorus are designed for those that would like to focus on singing and vocal performance.
Summer Youth Programming begins with Apprentice Stage, three sessions of two-week day camps. From 9am – 4pm, campers participate in music, dance and acting rehearsals, participate in workshops and walk to Prescott Park for lunch. Every camper who registers is a part of the show! Each session is open to 40 campers and culminates in a full-staged musical open to the public.
PAPA Camp, our popular 12-day overnight performing arts camp open to ages 8 – 16, will celebrate its 23rd summer in 2010. Along with the 85 +/- campers, 16 and 17 yr. olds have the opportunity to apply to the Counselor in Training program. PAPA Camp provides a safe, comfortable, supportive environment that allows campers to experience various aspects of theatre, music, dance, performing arts and traditional camp activities.
