Mainstage - The Best of Broadway and Beyond

2017 Mainstage Season

drivingmissdaisylogotnsmjpgJanuary 27 – February 19 A moving Pulitzer-Prize winning comedy, Driving Miss Daisy is the story of the relationship between a strong-willed, well-to-do Jewish woman and her black chauffeur over 25 years in post-war Atlanta. The relationship begins rocky as the two test each other’s boundaries and confront inherent prejudices, but an unlikely friendship blossoms as the two become each-other’s closest friends and confidantes.

No objectionable content, suitable for all ages

March 17 – April 2. A story of one woman’s quest to be beautiful set against the backdrop of the 1960’s. Facially disfigured from a childhood accident, Violet sets off on a cross-country bus trip to find a televangelist she believes can heal her, and finds friendship, unexpected romance, and the adventure of a lifetime along the way. Winner of a Drama Critic’s Circle Award for Best Musical and nominated for four Tonys, Violet delights with a variety of musical styles and touching harmonies.

Contains some adult language. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

May 5 – May 28. It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock and roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri, and the gang save the strip–and themselves–before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.

spamalotlogotnsmJune 23 – July 30. Welcome to the funniest show on earth. Monty Python’s Spamalot is a hilarious musical romp ripped straight from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, coconut shell galloping sounds and all. Join King Arthur and his idiot Knights of the Round Table as they search for the Holy Grail, except with way more musical numbers than the movie.

Suitable for ages 13 and up.

janeeyrelogotnSeptember 15 – October 8. Based on the novel by Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre is a five-time Tony-nominated musical adaptation by composer-lyricist Paul Gordon and writer John Caird. Like its namesake Jane Eyre is a hauntingly beautiful gothic romance that explores religion, sexuality, and feminism through powerful music and storytelling. Don’t miss this wonderful period drama.

Suitable for all ages.

winterwonderetteslogotnsmDecember 8 – December 31The Wonderettes are back, and just in time for the Holidays! We hope you like iconic 60’s versions of classic holiday tunes like “Jingle Bell Rock”, “Winter Wonderland”, “Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town” and more. Join our original cast from 2016 hit “The Marvelous Wonderettes” as they hop back into action, this time to save the Harper’s Hardware Holiday Party when things go amiss.   A great production for the whole family!
