Teen Rep Company

Teen Rep Company is for teens ages 14-19 and will be a diverse group of triple threat, or in-progress triple threat performers who will meet every week to collaborate and perform smaller scale theatrical projects. Examples include Cabarets, Showcases, and One Act Plays with the hope of ultimately performing a full show. Teens will perform and learn to direct, choreograph, stage manage and even costume shows.The Teen Rep Company will be directed by Victor Carillo Tracey, Julius LaFlamme, Isabella Baer, & Kristen Dalton and will be by Audition Only. Auditions will be on September 19th and you can get more information and signup through the button below.

Jr Rep Company

Jr Rep Company is for 12-14-year old’s and will also be a diverse group of triple threat, or in-progress triple threat performers who will be meeting every week to work on smaller scale theatrical projects. The Rep JR Company will be directed by Kristen Dalton and Devereaux Merchant. Audition Only.

Theatre Club

Theater Club is for our 9-11 years old’s and will meet each week and explore all aspects of Musical Theater. Students will learn to act through song and dance, play theater games, do Improv, build characters, and work together as a team. Theater Club will be run by Devereaux Merchant.

 

 

 

Theatre Cubs

Theater Cubs is a perfect way to introduce kids ages 7-8 to the wonderful world of Musical Theater. Students will be playing theater games to learn the basics of acting and improvisation and learning creative movement as a foundation for musical theater dance. Theater Club will be run by Devereaux Merchant and Chloe Eck.

 

 

 

Classes

Introduction to Musical Theater Dance (60 minutes, ages 9-10)

Taught by Devereaux Merchant

Musical theater dance is the study of Broadway dance and dance styles, relying heavily on knowledge from ballet and jazz. This class will include center warm up stretches, isolations, and core strengthening, followed by across the floor technique and simplified choreography from Broadway shows. Jazz shoes required.

Tuition is $20/class (Zoom is available for $10/class)

Wednesday 3:00-4:00pm

Musical Theater Dance 1 (60 minutes, ages 10-12)

Taught by Devereaux Merchant

Musical theater dance is the study of Broadway dance and dance styles, relying heavily on knowledge from ballet and jazz. As a prerequisite to this class, all Musical Theater Dance students must take at least 2 Ballet Conditioning classes a month

Musical Theater Dance 2 (60 minutes, ages 12+)

Musical Theater Dance 3 (75 minutes, ages 13+)

This class will include center warm up stretches, isolations, and core strengthening, followed by across the floor technique and choreography. Students will also learn numbers from Broadway shows. Saturday 1:15pm – 2:30pm

Musical Theater Dance Workshop (90 minutes, ages 13+)

“The Essential Dance Number”

Taught by Victor Carrillo Tracey

A 90 minute Dance workshop exploring the essential choreography in musical theatre, with an emphasis on acting through dance. This class will explore all styles represented on Broadway including jazz, hip-hop, ballet, modern, Latin, and much more. Students will leave class each week having a new combination confidently under their belts, as well as understanding why said combination is essential to the storyline of the musical it comes from!

Tuition is $30/class

Saturday 5pm – 6:30pm

Musical Theater Tap (60 minutes, ages 12+)

Taught by Devereaux Merchant

This is a beginning to intermediate level class that is designed to continue with more complex tap skills and performance value. The focus will be endurance, skill, core, and tap technique. This class will be working on combinations and short dance pieces to your favorite Broadway Musicals. Tap shoes required.

Students must have one year of previous tap experience

Wednesday 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Hip Hop (60 minutes, ages 13+)

Taught by Isabella Baer

Hip Hop is a high energy fun dance style that mixes sharp and soft movements. Learn how to listen to the music behind the lyrics and hit every part of your body on the beat. Isolating body parts is a big part of hip hop dance.

Jazz/Lyrical (60 minutes,ages 13+)

Taught by Isabella Baer

Jazz uses many of the techniques from other forms of dance and allows students to bring out their individual dance style and originality. There is a strong emphasis on proper execution while focusing on fundamental jazz dance technique. Lyrical is a dance style that blends ballet and jazz dance. It is generally smoother and a bit faster than ballet, but not quite as fast as jazz. A lyrical dancer uses movement to express strong emotions such as love, joy and anger.Both of these styles of dance will be taught in this class and will vary by week. Jazz shoes required.

As a prerequisite to this class, all Jazz/Lyrical students must take at least 2 Ballet Conditioning classes a month

Thursday 6:45pm – 7:45pm

Ballet Strength & Conditioning (60 minutes, ages 10+)

Taught by Isabella Baer

This class will consist of a warmup, bar, floor combinations, and diagonal work across the floor that will focus on the fundamentals of ballet with strong emphasis on technique. Proper ballet attire (black leotard, pink tights, hair in a bun, pink ballet shoes) is required for this class.

Cardio Dance (60 minutes, ages 13+)

Taught by Isabella Baer

Zumba is a high energy dance workout! The routines feature interval training with fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.

PAPA-Pella A cappella (60 minutes, ages 12+)

You’ve heard of Pentatonix and Straight no Chaser, but have you heard of PAPA-Pella? New at Seacoast Rep this fall, PAPA-PELLA is our teen A cappella group. With many schools not offering Music programs this year we have taken all pre-cautions and created a safe space to meet up every week and sing together! Come sing original arrangements of Pop, Rock, and Musical Theatre songs created by the music director Julius LaFlamme. We will be asking all students to purchase a “singer’s mask” to be worn whenever singing.

Tuition is $250 / Session runs from 9/14/20 through 12/14/20

Improvisation Troupe (60 minutes, ages 12+)

Taught by Julius LaFlamme

Come join PAPA’s brand new Improv Troupe. Improvisational Acting is an essential skill for anyone who wants to perform in any capacity. Every week students will learn basic to advanced Improv skills; Space work, Character work, listening and reacting, being a good scene partner, comedic timing, and others. Through games, drills, and longer form improv scenes you will get to know yourself and all of your peers as performers sharing unforgettable and hilarious moments on the stage.

Each 4 week Session is $80

INSTRUCTOR BIOS

Devereaux Merchant

Devereaux (Dev) Merchant is a graduate of Emerson College where she studied Theatre Education with a concentration in Acting. There she was a part of many productions including Sure Thing (Betty), FML: How Carson McCullers Saved My Life (Associate Director), XDance (Dance), and The little Prince (Assistant Director). She was also a participant in the Emerson Dance Company as well as on the board of the TYA theatre troupe Kidding Around. After her years at Emerson she traveled to Sitka, AK where she worked at Sitka Fine Arts Camp for a summer. Immediately following she moved to Maui, HI where she worked at The Maui Academy of Performing Arts as a Teaching Artist. A job in education brought her back to the East Coast. For the last few years she has been teaching movement classes, creating after school theatre programs, directing and choreographing for youth productions, and acting here in New Hampshire.
