Red Light Series

Turn On The Red Light

Welcome to the darker side of Seacoast Rep. The Red Light Series was commissioned to Keep Portsmouth Weird. Our artist-curated and produced series works to present new, exciting, overlooked, or reimagined performances.

Originated by Knate Higgins and curated by the Mad Men of Oopsy Daisy Inc., Red Light presents adult alternative entertainment, from the critically-acclaimed Mad Haus, to Drag Nights, to our new Red Light Mainstage productions – Red Light is all about doing cool, risqué, and interesting things.

Most Red Light productions are pay-what-you-can at the door. Don’t worry, our artists are contracted and get paid the same no matter what you pay. Got a little extra? Every bit goes back to programming.

2019 Red Light Season:

Quick, dirty, and totally unique. You’ll never see another production quite like a Red Light Production. Make sure you get it while you can. Runs are super short, so don’t miss them

Hedwig and the Angry Inch
December 27th 2018 – January 26th 2019

The trail of rainbow carnage continues! Join Seacoast Repertory Theatre for the extended Red Light special engagement of the four-time Tony Award-winning legend, Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Innovative, heartbreaking, and savagely funny, Hendwig and the Angry Inch is the landmark musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask that broke the mold and captured Broadway. This genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage.

The Rocky Horror Show
Christmas and New Years 2019

Our favorite Holiday Tradition All the lip-biting, gold-briefs-wearing, pleasure-inducing, mad-sciencing, sexy-partying, time-warping nightmare fun time you can handle. The Rocky Horror Show will please the purest purists and the curious newcomer alike.

Dog Sees God
December 4 – 27th

When CB’s dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace.

Songs for a New World
December 27th – 30th

It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice… or take a stand… or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.
