Savor The SolA collaboration between The Sol Series and Black Trumpet
The Seacoast Rep’s Sol Series and Black Trumpet are pleased to present Savor the Sol – a collaborative community kitchen project intended to infuse food, culture, and relief during hard times. Savor the Sol is an effort designed to feed a community in need, body and soul, with good, nutritious, and culturally significant food in an affordable way during the pandemic we are all living through together.
One Tuesday per month, Savor the Sol will provide meals on a pay-what-you-can to those most affected by the pandemic.
The model is simple and relies on honesty and community good will: if you are in need, you pay what you can, if you can. We don’t ask questions. We don’t need an explanation. If you are fortunate enough to be doing better, and you can afford a higher price, it will help those that can’t. If you are looking to donate meals, you can do that too at-cost.
The menu is curated and cooked by Najee Brown of the Sol Series, Evan Mallett of Black Trumpet, and Brian Kelly – all volunteering their time. Each new event, we prepare a new menu, heavily inspired by soul food, street food, Caribbean and latin cuisine, and whatever else we can muster with the cultural touchstones we all share with an effort to showcase cuisines developed in BIPOC communities.
The next Savor the Soul event will be this Tuesday, 1/19. From 4:30 – 6pm meals will be available for pickup. Pre-order online and we’ll have it ready when you get here.
