The Senior Repertory Theatre presents an original new comedy, “Merry Meadows Mishigas” Aug. 22 to 24 at the Star Theatre in Kittery.
The one-hour situation comedy revolves around the residents of the Merry Meadows Condominiums, home to a group of active senior citizens.
This quick moving comedy follows the exploits of these residents as they try to thwart the shenanigans of Milo, the narcissistic condo manager. The only residents willing to stand up against him are Bernie and Marge Richter. When it appears that the Richters are having trouble paying their condo fees, Milo plots to remove them from Merry Meadows once and for all. A mysterious buyer shows up. Who is she? What is her evil plan? Not to be outdone, the residents of Merry Meadows devise a plan of their own.
This original play is full of plot twists, comedic surprises, heartwarming camaraderie and mystery. Who is Cecil and why has he disappeared? Merry Meadows Condominiums – Home of friendship, fate and karma. There’s also a nice pool.
This one hour play was conceived and written by the members of the group and their director, Don Bagley, during Session 3 of The Senior Repertory Theatre. The ten-week sessions are held at the Kittery Recreation Center. Each session is used to encourage the exploration and appreciation of theater, film, and other aspects of the local art scene.
The show will be performed on The Seacoast Rep’s Second Stage at The Star Theatre in Kittery. There is ample free parking and the theater is handicapped-accessible. Tickets are seniors 60-plus, free; others pay as you can with $5 to $10 recommended. Show dates are Aug. 22 and 23 at 2 p.m. and Aug. 24 at noon.
